Joshua Hayes
Director of Bands
Joshua Hayes earned his B.S. in Music Ed. from Bethel University in 2014. Immediately afterward, he began work in the Paris Special School District as the Band assistant at W. O. Inman Middle school.
After a short tenure at Inman, he married and moved to Jackson, TN and the JMCSS as the music teacher at Andrew Jackson Elementary. After a two year employment at Andrew Jackson, he became the Director of Bands at Liberty Technology Magnet High School.
He performed as a soloist, section leader, and captain during the 2009 marching season with Milan High School, where he was a recipient of The John Phillip Sousa Award and awarded the Leaders by Example award. While at Bethel he performed with many different ensembles including, Jazz, Brassband, Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and the Bethel University Singers.
Mr. Hayes is a founding member and alumnus of the Xi Sigma chapter of Phi Mu Alpha at Bethel University where he held the offices of Fraternity Education Officer, Historian, Province Council Representative, and Alumni Relations Officer.
During his off days and spare time, Mr. Hayes volunteers with the American Red Cross as a member of the Disaster Action Team. He also spends a few weeks of the summer volunteering as leadership at Lakeshore United Methodist Assembly.
He is a firm believer in the power of music to speak when words fail and to be a bond between all people.
